Bluetooth on My Notebook Will Not Work

This problem can occur due to many reasons such as due to incorrect settings of Bluetooth, corrupted drivers, faulty Bluetooth module in the laptop, etc.

Resolution:

Perform the below steps to resolve the issue.

1. Ensure that Bluetooth is enabled on notebook and bluetooth devices.

Notebooks have a wireless switch and you may have to switch it on for the Bluetooth to function in your system and make sure that the Bluetooth is enabled in the notebook, to enable it, right click on Bluetooth icon in desktop and select Enable. If the icon is not available in taskbar and you can find the icon over there. If you don’t find any Bluetooth icon even in Control Panel, then Bluetooth might be running from some another application, like HP has HP wireless Assistant where the settings of both wireless connection and Bluetooth are configured and you can turn on Bluetooth from this. Check if Bluetooth is running from such application. You can also find the Bluetooth connection from Network Connections.

After enabling the Bluetooth check if it is enabled even in Device Manager.

If it is not enabled in Device Manager, then enable it. To enable Bluetooth from Device manager, click on start and select Run. Type devmgmt.msc and click on OK to open Device Manager.

Click on “+” sign next to Bluetooth Devices and enable it by right clicking on the Bluetooth module or device. If Bluetooth is already, you might notice that the Bluetooth icon would be blue in color and appears in red when it is disabled.

2. After enabling Bluetooth in both devices, make sure that these devices are in discoverable mode and if the devices are not discoverable, then connect your Bluetooth device to any other Bluetooth device other than laptop with which you are experiencing the problem and check if the device works fine with other Bluetooth device. If the Bluetooth device that you are trying to connect to the laptop does not work even with other Bluetooth devices then the problem might be with the Bluetooth device and not the laptop.

If there are no issues with the Bluetooth device then check with the Bluetooth software in laptop as we may experience the issue even if the software is corrupted. Check the issue by uninstalling and reinstalling the software. Just check now if you are able to connect to the Bluetooth device without any problem.

If the issue persists, then perform System Restore in the notebook and restore the notebook to an earlier time when the notebook was working fine and had no issues. Check if the issue is resolved now, if not you may try removing and reseating the Bluetooth module if possible as this can be done only in some laptop models.

To remove and reseat the Bluetooth module you can follow the steps in the service manuals of your laptop that are available in your notebook support website. If this cannot be done in your laptop, please contact your notebook support once since the issue might be with the Bluetooth module which does not work or fails to make network connection with the other device.

If the devices are discoverable, then pair the devices.

3. We will have to enter the pass key for Bluetooth device and use the same key in the computer to pair each of these devices. If you are unable to pair them, be sure that the you are using the same pass key on both notebook and Bluetooth device and also ensure that the pass key you are using is the right one.

Now after the devices are paired up try to send a file between from the device to the notebook.

If this does not work, move the devices closer (within 1-5 meter range).

Please do not make many connections with Bluetooth device while you are connecting or transferring a file to the notebook as the bandwidth of Bluetooth has a limit and might fail to support multiple connections at the same time and also disconnect your Bluetooth headset while connecting.

Check for the issue now, if not resolved then try with a new connection by canceling the previous connection. If the issue is still not resolved, proceed with the below steps. The issue could be even due to the corrupted drivers, therefore reinstall the Bluetooth drivers.

4. Reinstall the Bluetooth drivers

Go to Device Manager and click on “+” sign next to Bluetooth Devices. Select Bluetooth module and right click on it and click on Uninstall to uninstall the drivers. You can reinstall the drivers from the website of your notebook support and check if Bluetooth works. If this does not resolve the issue, try by reinstalling even the other Bluetooth module that might be present in Bluetooth Devices in Device Manager.

Some notebook manufacturers provide diagnostic tools that are used to test this kind of issues and give the result as pass or fail. Dell has this diagnostic test for certain models for testing the Bluetooth functionality of dell laptop. You can check for this diagnostics for Bluetooth in notebook from your laptop support website.

If the issue still persists, perform System Recovery which may fix the issue.

Before performing System Recovery, take the backup of your hard disk as your notebook will be restored to factory settings.

If the recovery process does not resolve the issue, then the problem might be related to hardware and to resolve this issue, you have to contact your notebook support.

After the release of smartphone statistics reports of 2010 that showed that the smartphones that support Bluetooth Marketing was the most common smartphones in the world:

1 Nokia, Finland 24.0 million for 39%

2 RIM, Canada 11.2 million for 18%

3 Apple, USA 8.4 million for 14%

4 HTC, Taiwan 4.5 million for 7%

5 Samsung, South Korea 3.0 million for 5%

6 Motorola, USA 2.7 million for 4%

Rest of smartphone makers 7.9 million

SMARTPHONE OPERATING SYSTEMS

1 Symbian (Nokia) 27.0 million for 44%

2 – Android (Google) 11.4 million for 18%

5 Windows Mobile (Microsoft) 1.6 million for 3%

Almost all Symbian phones (near 44% of the global markets) supports/accepts receiving files sent by Proximity Advertising devices.

Nielson Company releases stats on smartphone usage in October 2010 showing that only 3.5% of smartphone users use Symbian Devices, this means that US markets is no more a good market for Bluetooth Advertising.

StatCounter Global Stats claims that near 75% of Africa’s smartphone users use Symbian OS smartphones, and near 57% of Asia’s smartphone users use Symbian OS smartphones and near 52% of South America’s smartphone users uses Symbian OS smartphones.

Aeutus Marketing puts emphasis on targeting small businesses and Spanish speaking business owners

PHOENIX, AZ, September 21, 2010 – Former bank employees and now business partners, Christopher M. Castillo and Alexander B. Anaya, have recently teamed up to form Aeutus Marketing headquartered in Phoenix Arizona. The pair met four years ago when they both worked for M&I Bank. Christopher Castillo is from Milwaukee, WI and worked for M&Is; Corporate Marketing Division and met Alex Anaya while visiting Phoenix to conduct Marketing Training for M&Is; Business and Commercial Bankers. Castillo was impressed with the Phoenix area and eventually left M&I in early 2009 to focus on his business, Castillo Consulting Services, that has been assisting small business owners with Marketing and Public Relations support for over five years.

Castillo moved to Arizona in early 2010 and brings over 17 years experience in Marketing, Internet Services, Public Relations and Communications. He is now the CEO of Aeutus Marketing and holds his BBA, MBA and has received various awards for helping the community and volunteering his services to assist aspiring entrepreneurs.

Alex Anaya, Aeutus Marketing COO, also recently left a banking career at M&I Bank after working there over six years. Anaya states “One of the numerous benefits of working for M&I bank of Arizona was that I was able to meet many business owners, however I soon learned that the services that I provided wasnt enough to help them become more profitable. Many of them knew about their particular industry, however most of them did not know how to properly market themselves and target a certain niche.” Anaya continued “I would also get many Hispanic business owners approaching me because many of them only spoke Spanish and did not have a clear understanding on how to start a business in the U.S.” Working for a very conservative bank, he was limited to the knowledge that he could share and started getting requests from some of these clients to assist them with such things as helping them with the basics to get a business started and for Marketing and Advertising assistance. In 2009, he created Anaya Consulting Group to assist people with starting business entities as well as with Marketing and Social Media support.

Christopher Castillo and Alex Anaya both understand the importance of reaching out to the public in order to increase market share, as that is always the goal for all financial institutions. Aeutus Marketing will focus on assisting small and medium size business and currently has a small staff. One of the primary focuses of Aeutus Marketing is being an advocate to assisting Latino owned businesses.

Anaya comes from a family of entrepreneurs who have migrated to the U.S. to live the American dream of running their own enterprises. Christopher Castillo also has a background in assisting Hispanic owned businesses. Castillo previously worked as a Technical Assistant at the Univeristy of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) for nearly four years in a bilingual entrepreneurial course geared toward helping people create business plans regardless of their English proficiency. He is also a founding board member of Milwaukees Latino Entrepreneurial Network (LEN) that started in 2005 with nine members and now has over 200. He helped LEN become nationally recognized, and awarded, by the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce for the past two years.

Castillo has a long history of helping business owners with business plan creation and with his passion, Marketing. Today mobile devices primarily means mobile phones, including smart phones such as the Blackberry and the Apple iPhone. Mobile Marketing comes in many different flavors. For the vast majority of businesses, we think that text messaging is the best way to reach your consumers. In order to give you a quick overview of your options, below we walk you through the forms of mobile marketing other than text messaging that are available, explaining their pros and cons.

Advertising on the Mobile Web Many prominent websites now offer custom tailored sites for mobile phones, via WAP, and specially designed iPhone or Blackberry sites. The problem is, less than a quarter of Americans use the mobile web. This seriously restricts the reach of your mobile advertising campaign. Furthermore, when you design a banner ad for the mobile web you need to make sure that it will display correctly on thousands of different devices, made by over a dozen different manufacturers.

If your firm does decide to build its own WAP site, you can easily integrate it into your text messaging campaigns. Bluetooth/Infrared In recent years a number of brands have rolled out Bluetooth and infrared marketing campaigns. In a typical scenario, a street advertisement will offer consumers the opportunity to receive marketing content wirelessly at the hotspot. Successful MMS campaigns are typically run on-deck, which means that they confined to a single carrier. Although running an on-deck campaign allows you to leverage the power of MMS by conforming to a particular carriers technology, you are limited to that carriers customers Mobile Search Marketers familiar with Cost Per Click (CPC) search advertising programs such as Google AdWords, may be aware that these programs are now available on the mobile web. Extending your CPC search campaign to the mobile web presents numerous challenges. First, mobile search suffers the same reach drawbacks as mobile advertising. Furthermore, the major cellular carriers hope to keep searches in house, rather than ceding their users to a mobile search engine; and when consumers search on their mobile device their intentions are very different than when they are sitting at their desktop. Mobile Gaming Consumers have begun to embrace gaming on their mobile phones. Some firms have begun to advertise within freely available games. Mobile gaming is certainly popular, but it does not offer scale. Furthermore, your firm may have difficulty finding suitable placements.

As you can see, all of these marketing formats have serious drawbacks. We would not be surprised to see them become more viable in the future. For now though, none of them offer the reach, the simplicity, and the low cost of text messaging.

Now lets take a look at mobile marketing with text messaging: You Can Do-It-Yourself Small and medium businesses that do not have the inclination or the resources to work with a marketing agency can launch a text messaging campaign in-house using a simple web-based software/service like Ez Texting. As this is the Ez Guide to Mobile Marketing with Text Messaging we hate to complicate things, but we do need to help you understand an important difference between the two common types of text message marketing campaigns. Dont worry the difference is simple, but as you will see, the steps that you will take to get started will vary based on the type of campaign that you are planning.

There are two types of text messaging campaigns: pull and push. In a push campaign, your firm starts off with a database of opted in phone numbers. A pull campaign is designed to build a database of phone numbers for future use.

Pick A Firm Can they handle volume; do they support all carriers; do they offer easy-to-use software; do they offer advanced features you may want to use down the road? Target The Customers/Members You Would Like To Reach The power of marketing with text messages is that it allows you to reach the customers you want to reach. Figure out who they are before you design your campaign. (If you are conducting a push campaign, you already have these customers phone numbers. If you are launching a pull campaign, you will design the campaign to best reach your target customers) Setup A Means To Collect Numbers There are three ways to collect phone numbers. You can direct your customers to opt-in by sending a message with your keyword to a short code; you can collect customer phone numbers using a web widget; or, if you are conducting a push campaign, you can easily import previously collected phone numbers into your campaign database. SuperStop USA When gas prices are scheduled to go up, SuperStop USA owner Tony Donatell knows in advance. He believed that his customers would make it a point to fill up their tanks at his station if they were alerted in advance of the price increase. What Mr. Donatell needed was a way to quickly reach his customers with this information.

American Idol A few years ago, the producers of American Idol and AT&T teamed up to allow Idol viewers to vote on their favorite contestants via SMS. In 2008, fans voted in record numbers, sending in 78 million text messages. In 2008, AT&T expanded their Idol efforts to include voting reminders, trivia, a TXT-n-Win sweepstakes promising the winner ,000 cash and a trip for two to the Idol series finale in Los Angeles, and contestant ringtones and video clips featuring outrageous audition moments.

President Barack Obamas 2008 Election Campaign Political historians will be studying Barack Obamas historic campaign for decades to come. There is one thing that everyone already agrees upon Obamas New Media team leveraged the web, social networks, and text messaging in unprecedented ways to communicate with supporters, recruit donors, and enhance get-out-the-vote (GOTV) efforts. Famously, the Obama campaign announced their Vice Presidential selection of Joe Biden to opted in subscribers via text message. The message went out to 2.9 million mobile phones. The phone numbers went into the campaign database.

Finally, when Election Day came, supporters received text messages reminding them to vote. This was much more than a nifty way to end a campaign that exploited text messaging so successfully research has found that SMS is more effective than all GOTV methods other than old fashioned door-to-door canvassing. Canvassing may be more effective at turning out votes, than text messaging, but it costs nearly 20x as much per recruited vote.

The American Red Cross The American Red Cross raised 0,000 dollars in 2008 with its Text 2HELP program. The program is activated during major disasters. According to The Wireless Foundation, subscribers of participating wireless carriers can send a text message to “2HELP” (24357) containing the word “GIVE.” A tax-deductible donation will be made to the American Red Cross for disaster relief efforts. Donations will appear on customers’ monthly bills or be debited from a prepaid account balance.

In 2008, the Text 2HELP campaign was advertised across various communications channels, and received its biggest boost when both Presidential candidates called their constituents to action. During the Republican National Convention, Mike Duncan, the chairman of the RNC, asked convention attendants to take out their mobile phones and text in a donation. The Obama campaign leveraged their own text messaging campaign to aid the Red Cross, sending their entire database of subscribers a message asking them to text GIVE to 24537 (2HELP).
